Audiology Funding Options

Navigating the world of funding for audiology services and hearing aids can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone. At RT Speech and Hearing, we believe everyone deserves access to quality hearing care—so we’ve put together this guide to help you understand your options, maximise your benefits, and get the support you need.

Private Health Insurance

Many private health funds offer rebates on audiology services and hearing aids, depending on your level of extras cover. Coverage varies by fund, so it’s important to check:

  • If your fund covers audiology consultations, hearing assessments, and hearing devices
  • The annual limit on your policy
  • Your rebate percentage
  • Waiting periods for new members or upgraded cover
  • If pre-approval is required for hearing aids

For the latest health fund rebates, see the Independent Audiologists Australia resource: Private Health Cover for Audiology.

Claiming Process

  • Pay for Your Service: Payment is required at the time of your appointment.
  • Receive Your Invoice: We’ll provide a detailed invoice with all necessary item codes and provider numbers.
  • Submit Your Claim: Claim on-the-spot using HICAPS where available, or submit your claim manually or online to your health fund.
