Marc Oh
  • Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and Owner

I firmly believe that quality matters. Quality is something to be experienced, such as an obvious improvement in speech clarity, greater independence communicating with others, and joy during mealtimes. I take pride in delivering quality speech pathology solutions elegantly by providing practical, evidence-based and culturally appropriate advice that addresses your concerns.

I qualified in 2005 with an honours degree in speech pathology from the University of Sydney. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of health workplaces in the disability sector in Singapore and Australia. I specialise in working with individuals with complex communication needs. Fascinated by the complexities of, and need for, collaborative teamwork to better support individuals with such needs, I pursued research studies with Curtin University in 2016. I obtained a PhD in psychology in 2022.

I chose to remain in clinical practice and academia (teaching and research) for the majority of my career. I believe that my presence in both sectors is an art, privilege, responsibility and service to clients, colleagues, and the speech pathology profession. My career choice reflects my commitment to provide you with quality speech pathology services that is delivered elegantly. You, therefore, can expect results by working together with our speech pathologists. We can deliver services in English and Mandarin (中文/普通话).

In addition to clinical work, I enjoy sharing my knowledge by teaching speech pathology students and presenting my work through various forums (e.g., papers in journals, at conferences, public workshops and guest lectures) regularly. A full list of my research works can be found on my Research Gate (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Ruyi-Tong) profile.

My promise of quality services extends to professional supervision. I am highly skilled in providing professional supervision to speech pathologists, as well as in providing consultancy services to allied health teams looking to enhance therapy service delivery efficiently and sustainably. I look forward to meeting and working together with you and your teams.

  • Accredited Audiologist

I became interested in audiology during the summer of 2001 whilst studying speech pathology on a hospital scholarship. After a short stint as a speech pathologist then human resources executive in a large hospital in Singapore, I returned to university to pursue audiology.

I have been delivering person-centred hearing solutions effectively since 2012. I provide you with peace of mind by providing you with independent, honest and transparent advice related to your hearing care. My person-centred approach to my work is evident in the many long-term trusting relationships that I have established with my clients and medical practitioners, as well as a caseload that is built mainly through word-of-mouth referrals.

I am an independent and an Audiology Australia accredited member. I have extensive experience in adult and paediatric diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology, hearing aids prescription and counselling, as well as the assessment and management of tinnitus and auditory processing disorders. Prior to joining RT Speech and Hearing, I have worked in hospitals and various private practices.

I contribute to the profession by publishing my masters thesis in 2013 about Preterm Children using Cochlear Implants and by clinically supervising audiology students from several Australian universities and new graduate audiologists. I can deliver audiology services in English, Mandarin, and selected Chinese dialects.

Outside work, I enjoy cooking, hiking, hitting the waters, doing the school runs and spending time with my children.

    Qualifications:

Doctor of Audiology (Salus University, Pennsylvania), 2016

Master of Clinical Audiology (Melbourne University), 2011

Graduate Diploma in Human Capital Management (SHRI), Singapore, 2007

Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) Honours, Sydney University, 2004

  • I have been a patient of Marc’s for some time. He is always very thorough with my hearing tests and I appreciate his care and attention. I recommend him unreservedly.

    - Wendy K

  • I’ve worked with many speech pathologists in the past. Ruyi stands out because she is skilled at pointing out all the little things that we can do to help our girl learn to play and communicate. I leave every session learning something new. Progress is obvious.

    - Bec L

  • Very happy to endorse the work of Dr Marc Oh, my audiologist. I have been with him since retirement, and he has helped me regain my enjoyment and confidence with music and conversation. I have referred friends of friends to his attention, with success.

    - Kenn M

  • As Ruyi worked with our adult son and us, we realised that he has so much to tell us and will do so by using AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). She listens to our son and to us. She tells us about the pros and cons of each strategy as she implements them. She includes what she can and can’t do for him. We love her humility and honesty.

    - Shelia

  • I can feel Marc’s warmth, genuineness and care whenever I talk to him. He listens to me and gives me options for my hearing. The trust built makes me feel confident knowing that the hearing aids that he recommends are the most suitable ones for me. It has been 9 years of quality care. Thank you! Now, my husband is also a fan of him. I 100% recommend him.

    - Sue T

  • My wife saw Ruyi for a dysphagia assessment. Not only did we receive strategies related to the mealtime experience; we also received and practiced strategies to improve my wife’s swallow. That’s a first for us. Ruyi is a game changer.
